This morning we took a vocab pretest. We graded it so that we can
use it to
study this week. The test is also online. We watched a fun video
about
democracy and how our country makes laws. In math we did some
function
machines. The twist was that we had to figure out what the rule was.
hmmm.... I wonder if Mrs. Thornburgh can figure out a way to put some
of
those online??? We will work on that. We also worked a bit with
traditional division problems. We used the phrase, "Dead Monkeys
Smell Bad"
to help us remember which order to work. Divide, multiply, subtract
and
then bring down." We can still use the forgiving method, but now we
have
another method as well. In science we talked about the difference in
mass
and volume. We used a balance to rank lots of items we found in the
room by
mass. We then used gram weights to check our rankings. It was
interesting
to see that sometimes bigger things (more volume) weigh less (less
mass).
End Hunger. Pass it on.... <http://www.heifer.org/> www.heifer.org
