October 26

Homework: Read at Home, Fluency, Spelling ABC, Social Studies Project due Friday.
Skating Party: Thursday 6-8 $2 with parents
Cultural Dinner: Friday, Nov. 4 6-8 (Project Boards will be on display.)

Today Levi came back!!! He said that we now know more about his eye than his doctors....:) We are glad that he is back and that his eye is healing. We worked more on our comparison papers today. Research (Marzano) shows that being able to determine similarities and differences is a great indicator of success in school. In math we worked with cubes. Mrs. Thornburgh gave us dimensions and we had to form the rectangular prisms. We then had to tell what the volume was. Then, she challenged us even more by giving us the volume and then having us see how many different rectangular prisms we could make with that volume. 'We had a visit from the Great Pumpkin reminding us about the skating party tomorrow night. This afternoon after Library, Morgan shared her country project on Kenya. Mrs. Thornburgh did a pretty good job of keeping her mouth shut until the end. Morgan did a really nice job sharing info about the country. She used the same format as we are using for our group projects. She even had a nice comparison paper written. In the end, Mrs. Thornburgh added a bit about the foods they eat and a little Swahili lesson. After that we worked on our papers and project boards.
